Cycling in Tower Hamlets

Cycling is an efficient, cheap, healthy, non-polluting mode of transport. The council wishes to encourage cycling to help improve mobility, reduce traffic congestion and improve health in the borough. For the latest walking and cycling news, download the most recent Tower Hamlets sustainable transport newsletter (PDF, 270kb)

Free family cycle training is available during the 2015 Easter holidays, from Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 10am-12 noon in Victoria Park. To book a place call Bikeworks on 020 8980 7998 (option 1) or email enquiries@bikeworks.org.uk

If you would like to make a request for on-street cycle parking or residential cycle parking or find out about existing cycle parking please email cycling@towerhamlets.gov.uk. Although our current cycle parking programme is already committed, we are considering sites for the next year's programme. For details of individual cycle lockers on residential estates that can be rented out, visit the Bikeaway and Cycle-Works cycle management websites.

Work has now commenced on the Cycle Superhighway2 (CS2) upgrade between Bow and Aldgate. Upon completion, the cycle route will be segregated for most of the way. The first phase of the work is taking place along Mile End Road and Bow Road between Harford Street and Harley Grove, and Whitechapel Road between Commercial Road and Cambridge Heath Road.
