All Ability Cycling Club
Residents of all ages and abilities in Tower
Hamlets can now take advantage of the new and improved All Ability
Cycling Club, funded by Tower Hamlets Council and run by Bikeworks
in Victoria Park. The All Ability Club has been awarded London
2012 Inspire Mark status. This recognises the effect of the
Olympics on developing the Club and the contribution of the
programme to the legacy of the 2012 games in this community
The Inspire Mark programme recognises those projects
that “increase participation in grassroots sports, sport
competition and physical activity”. The Club is a fun place to
meet, get some exercise and have a go on different kinds of
bikes.
The adult All Ability Club meets on alternate
Saturday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm. A new Junior All Ability Club
(under 16s plus family and carers) runs from 12pm to 1pm before the
adult sessions.

The club is free to attend and open to all,
regardless of age or ability. There are a range of bicycles
available for participants, including hand cycles,
wheelchair
bicycles, tandems, scooters, two wheelers and much more.
Sessions take place opposite the Gunmakers
Lane entrance to Victoria Park. Details can be obtained by calling
Bikeworks on 020 8980 7998 or at http://www.bikeworks.org.uk.
In response to demand from participants, free
‘one to one’ sessions outside of Club times are also now available,
either on Thursday afternoons or at other times on requests.
Sessions last one hour and are an ideal opportunity for
participants to gain confidence and develop skills with focussed
support.
Both the Club and individual sessions operate
with fully qualified cycling instructors who create a relaxed, fun
atmosphere while responding to individual riders needs.
