Council tax
Council tax is the contribution that people who live in Tower
Hamlets make to the many services provided by the borough, such as
street lighting, collecting rubbish, schools and libraries as well
as the police and fire service.
Most homes in Tower Hamlets are subject to council tax. There is
one tax per home, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat,
maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or
rented.
For more information about what you contribute towards the
costs of running your services and how the council tax is
distributed download the
2012/13 Council Tax leaflet (pdf, 1.19mb)
For 2012/2013 only an older
resident discount of £50 is available.
