Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – temporary traffic
restrictions
London Borough of Tower Hamlets Transportation & Highways
team controls temporary road traffic restrictions that might affect
the streets where we live and work.
Most traffic restrictions are subject to the Road Traffic
Regulations Act 1984. Any bodies wishing to carry out any
work on roads in Tower Hamlets require permission to do so.
New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 Section 58 - notice of
substantial road works
Notice of works in St Paul’s Way and Burgess St
Three months advance notice is hereby given that London Borough
of Tower Hamlets intends to carry out substantial road works.
The streets in which these works will take place are St Paul’s
Way and Burgess St. The area of works are:
a) The length of
St. Paul’s Way between Junctions of Burgess St and Huddart
Street.
b) The length of
20m of Burgess St from its junction at St. Paul’s Way.
The work will affect the existing carriageway
and the footway over the whole width of the above area of the
public highway. Work is expected to commence on 29 November
2010.
The works notified will include the
reconstruction of footway and carriageway within the above
described area, realignment of the kerbs, surface water drainage
and construction of speed tables.
Subject to the exemption in the Act and
Regulations under it, no street works may be executed for a period
of 12 months from completion of the works described in paragraph 2
without the consent of the said Highway Authority, which shall not
be unreasonably withheld.
