Development control
Planning and Building Control are two council services
regulating development in the borough.
View this Guide to
the planning process which is a brief introduction to the
planning system, intended for both householders and business
people. You can find out why planning is important, why
planning controls are necessary and how decisions are made.
The Development Control service processes
and determines planning applications. It also deals with
breaches of planning permission, works to listed buildings and
buildings in conservation areas and tree preservation.
The Strategic
Planning service is responsible for drafting planning policy
for the borough and providing policy advice on planning
applications.
The Building Control service oversees
