Tower Hamlets TROJANS in the London Amateur Basketball League
Final
The league play off final of
the Men’s London Amateur Basketball League for season 2010/11 was
between Tower Hamlets Trojans and Latinos.
The final was on Saturday 12
March 2011 at Bishop Challoner School.
Both teams had strong
seasons in the league blowing most other teams out by 15 – 20
points. Games got tougher for the Trojans though as their semi
final game versus London Bullets ended up being a very tight game
as the guys from Tower Hamlets just managed a 3 point win in over
time.
With the addition of a new
player drafted into there squad right at the end of the season the
Latinos had played the Trojan men before this final meet and beaten
them by some thirty points. The Trojan men were determined not to
have a repeat performance of this in the final and were the first
on the score sheet. This was to be short lived as the Latinos
dominant player seemed to be both ends of the court causing the
Trojans havoc, and scoring both from the perimeter and also inside.
Unable to contain this player the Latino men began to pull away
quickly and the younger guys from Tower Hamlets had no answer. The
game finished with the Latinos victorious 60 – 28.

Women’s basketball
Women’s only day at Whitechapel sports centre runs a basketball
session. To have access to this session you must hold a GLL
membership. You can learn new skills, meet different women from
different races, sizes and levels, all that’s asked is that you’re
a women and you are wanting to learn new skills, meet new people
and have fun.

Girls' basketball
Girls only basketball on Wednesdays gives girls aged 11-16 the
opportunity to be coached by two fully qualified female basketball
coaches, to meet girls in their local area, play, learn new skills
and get the chance to represent their borough in the London youth
games and in the London Junior Basketball league. All levels are
accepted.

London league boys' basketball
If you are male and within the ages of 12- 16 and play
basketball at a good level then theTower Hamlets Trojans training
session is for you. You will get to try out for the national team
and get coached by one of the longest serving basketball coaches in
London.

Primary school basketball
Primary school kids both boys and girls have the chance of
learning new skills and meeting other children of their age on
Saturday mornings at Mile End Park Leisure Centre. They learn the
fundamentals of basketball and get the opportunity to represent
their borough in the mini youth games. This session is coached by
an energetic fully qualified basketball coach.
