Water quality
Our aim is to maintain the air, land and water in the borough to
the highest possible quality. This is done by monitoring the
environment, controlling the release of pollution, giving advice
and by taking action against those who pollute.
Water in Tower Hamlets is important to us all. Of course, we
need it to drink, but we also use it for safe recreation. A large
area of our borough borders the river Thames, and there are many
canals, docks and other inland waterways.
The Health and Environment section of the council is responsible
for the routine testing of both drinking water and recreational
water.
