Consumer credit licence

All businesses including individuals that offer credit or lend money to consumers, need a consumer credit licence under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.  This is obtained from the Consumer Credit Licensing Bureau of the Office of Fair Trading.

Copies of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 can be obtained from Office of Public Sector Information.  Or a copy can be inspected at the council offices where you may also obtain details of the fee, an application form and further help or advice.
