Civil emergency plan
The Civil Protection Section deals with
forward planning in the event of major emergencies that affect
residents or the council.
The Civil Protection Section are responsible
for risk assessing foreseeable risks in the borough and preparing
and exercising response plans that will be implemented during civil
emergencies.
Under the requirements of the Civil
Contingencies Act 2004, the emergency services and the council have
specific legal duties to plan for response to civil emergencies in
the borough. The council also has a legal duty to prepare, test and
exercise business continuity plans for its core public essential
services so that these services can be maintained during civil
emergencies.
