Civil emergencies: social and psychological support 

Tower Hamlets Council provides emergency rest centres and support during civil emergencies.

During a civil emergency, rest centres will cater for the needs of all residents who are unable to look after themselves or their families.

Residents are contacted at home by the council or the police and helped to reach a rest centre. The rest centre is provided by council staff who are trained in looking after vulnerable people.

Some emergencies are traumatic and when this occurs, support and advice will be provided by rest centre staff.
