Information for providers
Welcome to the Personalisation Providers Network in
Tower Hamlets, where you can get your social care provider news,
information, events and updates about transforming adult social
care.
In 2007, the government launched
Putting People First, a shared vision and commitment
to transform adult social care towards a personalised,
person-centred adult social care system.
What is the personalisation provider network?
We recognise that the local provider market will play a key
role in the successful transformation of adult social care. The
Personalisation Provider Network brings together providers across
different sectors and care groups for a programme of workshops,
consultations, events, presentations and action learning that will
engage providers in the personalisation agenda and support a
positive response to it. The network meets on a bi-monthly
basis.
In September 2009, over 60 providers from across the borough
attended the first Personalisation Provider Network meeting.
Providers heard about the vision for transformed adult social care
in the borough and our new Operating System.

On Monday 30 November 2009, over 50 providers came together for
the second Personalisation Provider Network
meeting to discuss personalisation, its challenges and the
opportunities ahead. Part of the session focused on
positive risk taking and the draft Tower Hamlets positive risk
taking policy.

News
During November we hosted two successful, and extremely well
attended, Personalisation Provider Network events. The first of
these focused on our approach to Market Development and the second
on how we are developing our e-marketplace and community catalogue.
Both sessions generated really valuable feedback that we will
be incorporated into our work as we move forward. The next
session in January will also be important, focusing as it will on
our future Commissioning priorities. We look forward to discussing
these priorities and how we can deliver them in more detail.
We will also be engaging with you as local providers over the
coming months on the issues related to developing the social care
workforce in the Borough. This is an area that is of critical and
shared importance to us all, and we want to make sure we understand
the good work that you are already doing to develop your employees
to meet the challenges associated with delivering personalisation
as well as how we can work together to develop this further. Our
intention is to produce a Social Care Workforce Development
Strategy for the Borough during the first six months of next year
and your engagement with this work is vital if we are to ensure it
is properly reflective of our shared requirements.

Provider programme
The provider programme, delivered by Helen Sanderson Associates
is a six part programme, based on the key priorities
that providers identified at the first meeting. The programme will
be delivered over six full days and there are places for 80
providers. The programme will be split in two with each session
being delivered twice to up to 40 providers.
Organisations will be allocated one place on the programme.
Helen Sanderson Associates has recommended that organisations send
a senior representative to the programme. That may include
sending a different representative to the relevant parts of the
programme e.g. an HR manager to the HR session.
