Eating and drinking
Tower Hamlets borough is situated along the banks of London's
river Thames. Consequently this part of the East End has long
celebrated the pleasures of eating and drinking by the
waterside.
We can offer a very wide selection of waterside places to visit.
From world class restaurants to friendly, traditional pubs, Tower
Hamlets caters for all tastes and can suit all pockets.
Indeed, many places deliberately cater for all tastes and
pockets, offering, for example, modestly priced wine by the glass
for everyday purposes, but also top marquee champagne for those in
a mood to celebrate.

to find a venue in that suits you. The various drinking holes and
eateries have been grouped by area.
Healthier eating on the go
Tower Hamlets Healthy Borough programme has a
‘Healthier
Eating out Guide’ – making it easier to get a nutritious bite
to eat whilst on the go.
The guide lists all local cafés, takeaways and
restaurants that are part of the Healthy Borough’s Food for Health Awards.
The awards acknowledge food businesses with a
gold, silver or bronze for using healthier cooking methods and
recipes with reduced sugar, fat and salt. Diners can easily
identify Food for Health Award eateries by the yellow window
sticker or a wall plate displayed at the premises.
