Crossrail
What is Crossrail?
Crossrail 1 is a new rail scheme promoted by
the Secretary of State for Transport through Cross London Rail
Links (CLRL), a 50/50 joint venture company formed by Transport for
London (TfL) and the Department for Transport (DfT).
It aims to provide east-west rail through
London from Maidenhead and Heathrow via Paddington, Liverpool
Street and Stratford to Shenfield, and via Whitechapel to Isle of
Dogs (Canary Wharf), Woolwich ending at Abbey Wood.
In October 2007 the Prime Minister announced
funding agreements for the project which were detailed in the
Chancellor's autumn statement on 9th October 2007.
The Crossrail website will keep
residents and businesses informed of the implications of the
project.

Hamlets (August 2008)
Tower Hamlets has now received the Crossrail context
