York Hall
Situated in Bethnal Green, York Hall is the
home of British boxing. A historic landmark in Tower Hamlets, the
leisure centre is housed in a magnificent neo-Georgian red brick
building that was first opened in 1929.
Since then York Hall has become known
internationally as home to some of the world’s most prestigious
boxing matches.
The venue has recently undergone a £4.2m
renovation programme that has restored the magnificent interiors
and period features to their original glory, as well as bringing
the training and leisure facilities completely up to date.
In addition to the main sports hall – which
continues to host many top level boxing bouts every year – York
Hall Leisure Centre now houses a 33m pool, a training pool, a
state-of-the-art fitness centre and a studio, as well as a sauna,
steam rooms and Turkish baths.
One competition boxing ring is permanently
available at York Hall; up to three more training or competition
rings, as well as all ancillary equipment, can be provided on
request.
