Inside the Olympic Park
The main centre for lots of the activities, such as the Opening
and Closing Ceremonies, will be the Olympic Park which covers 500
acres – about the size of Alton Towers.
During the Games, it will only take seven minutes to
get there from the centre of London by a special train. The Olympic
Park will contain the main Stadium, Aquatics Centre, and smaller
stadia like the Hockey Centre and the Velopark for Cycling. The
Athletes Village, where the athletes will stay during the Games,
will also be in the Park.
The whole of the Park will be designed to make sure that
visitors always feel part of the Games, whether they are watching
the sport competitions, walking along the river bank or sitting in
front of one of the big screens watching events.

progress of building the Olympic Park on London 2012's many
