Tower Hamlets Council provides a range of over 200 services to
people in the borough of Tower Hamlets and manages a budget
of more than £1 billion a year.
Most of this budget is spent on schools, benefits, social
services, housing and waste services.
Local people have a right to know how their money is being
spent, and Tower Hamlets Council is pleased to publish details of all its payments over £500
in value on its website.

Senior staff pay
In order to provide transparency over its payments to staff, the
council publishes a list of all council staff earning a salary of
more than £82,000 a year. The London Borough
of Tower Hamlets Statement of Accounts including archived
versions, are already in the public domain and shows the
salaries for our Chief Officer grades.
Payments to members
The council's constitution sets out the Scheme of Members'
Allowances. This provides for a Mayor's allowance to be paid to the

- special responsibility allowance for specified member
- dependants' carers' and travel/subsistence allowances and
- an attendance allowance for co-opted members of the Standards
Advisory Committee and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
The Members' Allowance Scheme is agreed
