Statement of community involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement sets out ways in which
local people and organisations can get involved in planning
decisions that will affect their street, estate or the wider area –
large and small.
The Council is proposing updates to the SCI to
ensure our community involvement remains of the highest standard
even in the context of increasing budget constraints.
The proposed changes will ensure that the
Council is consulting on planning applications in the most
efficient way, and one of the ways we can do this is by reviewing
the volume of letters sent out to advise on planning applications.
The SCI also introduces the use of new technology to enable easier
access to information relevant to an individual or group’s
particular location or interests.
The revisions proposed are to Appendix C
of the SCI and can be viewed below. Also available below is the
full, current version of the SCI.
We want to know your
views
The consultation runs for a period of 6 weeks
from 16 April until 28 May 2012 at
5pm.
Paper copies are also available for reviewing
at the borough’s Idea Stores and public libraries (see Council
website for address and opening hours) and at the Council’s
Planning Reception at Anchorage House, 5 Clove Crescent, London E14
2BG between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
This year we are introducing a new online
consultation system, which will assist in the provision and
processing of representations. Comments should be made using this
system. If you are not able to submit your comments in this manner,
you can provide comments by email to ldf@towerhamlets.gov.uk or by
