You Decide! at Central Foundation
Girls’ School (LAP 5) 2009
Thank you to all 81 residents who took part in You Decide! at
Central Foundation Girls’ School, Harley Grove on Saturday 4
April.
During the event participants heard about 33
extra council services and projects available to buy to improve
their neighbourhood and other residents’ lives.

Here’s how you decided
With the £280,000 of council cash - £140,000
for each ward Bow East and Bow West. Participants voted on
the best way to spend the budget to benefit their local
community.

Youth Inclusion Programme
This programme will help to prevent 13-17 year
olds at risk of entering the criminal justice system, by working
with 75 teenagers.

Panel
The panel will work with 30 children aged 8-13
who have become know to the police or council’s youth offending
team and may have anti-social behaviour warnings or acceptable
behaviour contracts.

The panel will work with 30 children aged 8-13
who have become know to the police or council’s youth offending

An extra Police
Officer (2 yrs)
One additional Police Officer to enhance the
strength of the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT). The officer will
work from the base used by the SNT.

SquareImprovements
Specific works would be subject to community
consultation. The works may include: railing and gate way repairs,
painting, better signs, littler bins, benches, footpath
improvements, new play equipment, tree and shrub planting, nature
areas, water features, art features or better lighting.

Improved Street Lighting (per
street)
This means lighting will be improved. Trees
will be cut back were they block the light, lanterns will be
cleaned and light bulbs replaced before they fail.

Family Learning
Free family learning course will be organised
by the council’s Lifelong Learning Team to provide parents,
grandparents and carers with the skills they need to encourage
their child to learn at home.

This project will provide at least 100 new
trees in street, parks and open spaces.

Flashing Speed Reduction
Sign
Signs will be placed on roads were actual or
perceived speeding problems exist.

StreetSweeper
This project will provide an extra sweeper who
would clean private, publicly owned areas and areas with no
identifiable owner. The street sweeper will work in the most untidy
areas as agreed in consultation with residents.

refurbished shrub beds in parks and open spaces and
various bulbs, roses, ground cover and climbing plants
