MOT testing station
The council operates an approved public MOT testing station for cars and
light vans. Our current charge is £50.
We will:
- use steering wheel covers, seat covers and foot well covers to
keep the vehicle clean
- offer you a timed booking
- give you an unbiased report on your vehicle if it fails the MOT
test or emissions standard
We also offer:
- subsidised checks on your vehicle’s emissions in support of the
London Mayor’s air quality strategy
- independent checks of used cars of any make or age, undertaken
by our qualified technicians - the report will give you
detailed information on the condition and current value of the car,
its safety and roadworthiness, advice on any recommended repairs
required, and information that could assist you in negotiating the
right price with the seller

We prefer advance booking. To book an MOT, vehicle emission
testing or an independent used car check, contact us on:

How to pay
Payment can be made by cash or cheque only. Please note
that cheques should be made payable to “London Borough of Tower
Hamlets” and crossed “a/c payee only”. Cheques will only be
accepted with a valid cheque guarantee card.
