Sports development

Community sport in Tower Hamlets is administered by the Sports Development Team whose principal aim is to increase participation throughout the Borough.

Working with multiple agencies and delivering to young people, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, the over 50s and women and girls, the team provide the community with support in the following areas:

• Locate sports clubs within the Borough.
• Support for clubs and coaches such as advice on funding, coaching badges and sports club accreditation.
• Specific provision for disability sport, tennis, football and basketball.
• The Active Communities team who specialise in provision for disabled people, women and girls and hard to reach communities.
• Coordination of programmes, sessions and events such as holiday activities and the London Youth Games.
• Discover more about Sports Development in Tower Hamlets and access resources and detailed research and information on sports participation in the Borough to help you and/or your organisation plan sports delivery.
• Information on School Sport.
