Football Partnership
Football in the borough is a popular activity with the number of
people wanting to play increasing all the time.
The key aims for football development in the
borough are to:
- enhance healthy lifestyles through participation in
football
- provide a platform through football in which community cohesion
can be promoted
- promote social inclusion and provide equality through
representation
- support and provide initiatives that will produce training and
employment opportunities
The popularity of football in the
borough creates huge demand on our limited resources and opens
possible new debates around pitch provision. To help address
this Tower Hamlets Football Partnership was set up in January
2007 to help promote access to playing football.
The focus of the partnership is on
discussing and resolving football issues that affect all of us such
as:
- finding a pitch
- training provision
- costs of hire
- Charter Standard accreditations
- sourcing new funding streams
- increasing girls, womens and disability participation

with football in Tower Hamlets contact the senior football
development officer on 020 7364 2681.

Need funding?
You never know …you might be eligible for a
grant from the Tower Hamlets Sports Council. It only costs £10
per annum to be affiliated and the Sports Council has been
supporting the community’s sports groups and individuals for
years.
For more details visit the Sports Council page.
Football volunteers
The LFA have announced that they are compiling
a database of clubs seeking volunteers and volunteers seeking
opportunities to work with clubs. This sounds like a wonderful idea
and a definite step forward in the right direction. Both
the club and volunteers forms can be downloaded.
Please note it is the responsibility of each club to carry out
CRB checks for any volunteers who may join your project and work
with children.
