Non full-time residents of Tower Hamlets

The following describes in numbers the borough’s non-full time resident population - from  Local Government Finance Settlement 2007/08 Table T1 for Tower Hamlets (Department for Communities and Local Government, 2006).

The figures derive from identifiable surveys carried out between 1988 and 2004 - Data Definitions of Indicators for 2007/2008 Part1 (Local Government Grant Distribution Settlement – January 2007) - and refer to semi-residents, non-residents, working and socialising visitors.

• Positive daytime net inflow of people - 83,200

• Domestic visitor nights - 1,214,000
  The annual average number of nights stayed by domestic visitors in the local authority's area.
• Foreign visitor nights - 1,146,000
  The annual average number of nights stayed by foreign visitors in the local authority's area.
• Annual day visitors (CURDS methodology) - 5,215,000
• Net In-Commuters - 83,200
  The result of: The number of persons working but not resident in the local authority’s area minus the number of persons resident in but working outside the local authority’s area
• Day Visitors - 14,288
  The annual number of day visitors to the local authority's area divided by 365.
