Greater London Authority elections 2012
The people you vote for in this election are responsible for
many aspects of your everyday life – from the underground, local
bus services, and policing, to green spaces, air quality and
Trafalgar Square.
In the 2012 Mayor of London and London Assembly elections, you
will be able to cast three votes.

Mayor of London election: you will be able to
cast a first and second choice for a candidate who will be part of
a political party or standing as an independent candidate. From
30th March this page will list each of the candidates.
City and East Constituency London Assembly
Member: you can cast one vote for the candidate you would
like to represent you in City and East Constituency. Candidates
will be part of a political party or standing as an independent
candidate. From 30th March this page will detail the candidate
names for City and East Constituency.
City and East Constituency includes London Borough of Newham,
London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, London Borough of Tower
Hamlets and The City of London.
London-wide Assembly Member: you will be able
to cast one vote for a political party or an individual standing as
an independent candidate. From March 30 this page will detail
the political parties’ lists and the independent candidate names
for London.
To have your say on May 3, you need to make sure that you are
registered to vote by Wednesday 18 April 2012.
Other important dates for your diary:
- Wednesday April 18, 5pm - last date to apply for a postal
vote
- Wednesday April 25, 5pm - last date to apply for a proxy vote
(appoint someone else to vote on your behalf)
