Mayor's Neighbourhood Refresh

A chance to have a say in improving your area

The Mayor’s Neighbourhood Refresh (MNR) gives residents the chance to work with the council to improve the look and feel of their area.

A fund of £3 million (£1 million per year) has been set aside to spend on brightening and uplifting neighbourhoods and make a difference to the quality of resident’s lives.

Funding will be spent on improving roads and pavements, more enforcement to help make streets cleaner, and an Air Quality Fund to tackle air pollution.

The scheme will be rolled out across the borough, as fast as possible, over three years.

Street audits

In every case, there will be a street audit where we will ask residents to point out environmental or safety improvements.

These improvements could include more trees and better green spaces, cycle parking, better lighting, street art, pleasant resting areas; safety and traffic calming measures and paving repairs.

Our next  street audit will take place in the Old Ford area of Bethnal Green on Tuesday 11 September 2018

Join us on a walkabout looking at areas including Sewardstone Road, Old Ford Road, Cambridge Heath Road, Approach Road, Bonner Road, and Bishops Way.

Meet  at 6pm on the square at the junction of Bonner Road and Old Ford Road.

Where

We are starting MNR in areas where there have been reported road safety issues. Give us your ideas and we will review them and decide which are best to pursue.

Consultation in each area will last three to four weeks and improvement work will start about two months after each consultation.

Results of each consultation will be published on the site.
