Chrisp Street Market police office has been
brightened up by posters designed by local children.
Schools were asked to design a poster
showing how they saw the police in their community, and more than
50 entries were sent in.
The two winners, Fatima, 9, and Ria, 7,
have their artwork displayed in the front window of the police
office and were also presented with a £30 gift voucher by Jamie
Lock of housing association Poplar Harca.
Fatima from Mayflower Primary School in
Poplar said: “I feel very glad to win the competition and feel
proud of myself. I really enjoyed colouring and designing the
poster.”
Ria from Bygrove School, also in Poplar,
said: “I am very happy to win a voucher. I coloured my poster in
blue because it reminds me of the police.”
PC Michelle Hamilton-Levy from East India
& Lansbury Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “The children had
all produced outstanding posters and it was extremely difficult for
us to select just two winners.
“We are proud to display the posters and
they certainly brighten up our window board.
“This competition brought together the
local community and we will continue to involve and work closely
with the local schools and young people.”
Jamie Lock added: “Poplar Harca is pleased
to be part of this initiative. This is a great chance to build
relationships with the police and community.”
