Residents meet with the police

Residents have been meeting police teams
across the borough to air their views on crime – and help set
priorities for the next six months.
Throughout January, Safer Neighbourhoods
teams (SNTs) hosted public meetings as part of their commitment to
the Met’s Policing Pledge.
The events were an opportunity for people
living in each ward to discuss the issues that matter to them and
for the teams to listen to their views.
Chief Inspector Nigel Nottidge said: “These
meetings are a fantastic opportunity for our communities to tell us
what they want us to focus our attention on in the coming
months.
“We cannot police effectively without
understanding exactly what our community wants us to address. By
coming along to the meetings and listening to residents concerns,
we can make Tower Hamlets a great place to live.”
Sergeant Tony Burton of Blackwall &
Cubitt Town SNT said: “I was delighted to see so many residents
attend our meeting. It highlights to me the residents on this ward
want to be involved in the way it is policed.
“The team have recorded all questions and
issues raised and will take this to the next ward panel meeting to
assist with setting our priorities. I encourage more residents to
attend future meetings to ensure the best possible consultation
that will inevitably lead to the most effective use of the
team.”
