Community Leadership Programme
Developing Community Leaders in Tower Hamlets
The council recognises the crucial role that
effective community leadership plays in shaping and improving the
quality of life for everyone living and working in Tower Hamlets,
and for building our vision for One Tower Hamlets.
Effective community leadership is the
cornerstone for representing and empowering local people and is
provided in many ways, both formally and informally and at
different local levels.
The council fully appreciates the time,
commitment and passion that local individuals from all walks of
life bring to being a leader in their community.
Whether you provide community leadership as
part of your job or professional work, as an elected
representative, local volunteer or campaigner or if you aspire to
taking up a community leadership role the council wants to offer
its support in helping you to develop and enhance your community
leadership skills.
In order to do this the council is offering up
to 30 places on a Community Leadership Programme leading to a Post
Graduate Diploma (FHEQ Level 7) from SOAS, University of London,
with the programme managed by the Ocean Somali Community
Organisation (OSCA).
If you:

Hamlets and actively undertake a leadership role in the borough
either formally or informally or aspire to taking on a community
leadership role within the borough;
- have an undergraduate degree;
- have the time, energy and commitment to
develop and enhance your community leadership skills and knowledge
