Victoria Park will be the ideal destination for fun loving residents and Londoners this week, as In The Neighbourhood, a free weekday festival brokered by the council with promoters Goldenvoice/AEG Presents, begins.

Tower Hamlets Council owns Victoria Park and awarded the All Points East Festival promoters the contract with an obligation to ensure that community benefits such as supporting business and employment in the borough are a key part of what will be delivered.

  • The vast majority of performers and activities are based throughout Tower Hamlets and around Victoria Park.
  • Over 60 per cent of the food traders are either based near Victoria Park, have a kitchen there, or regularly trade in or around the park.
  • A Tower Hamlets resident has been recruited to the APE event management team and residentshave also been employed as stewards.

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets said:Community benefits were a central part of our agreement with the promoters of All points East.

"Not only is In the Neighbourhood set to deliver four days of free activities, showcasing Tower Hamlets’ rich and diverse cultural talent, it has also provided a range of business and employment opportunities for our residents and entrepreneurs."

Cllr Amina Ali, Cabinet Member, for Culture, Arts and Brexit added: “In the Neighbourhood means residents and families in Tower Hamlets can enjoy dozens of free events and sample some of the culinary delights and beverages provided by local food and drink businesses.”
