The Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs, has responded to the terrorist attack in New Zealand, which occurred on Friday.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs said:
“I am shocked and saddened to hear about the appalling act of terrorism in Christchurch. I send my deepest sympathies to those who have lost friends and family, and to the people of New Zealand on this very sad day. The people of Tower Hamlets stand in solidarity with them.
“Alongside many of my council colleagues, I will be attending a vigil today at East London Mosque to show support and solidarity with Muslim communities in Christchurch, in our borough, and around the world. We stand together against hatred, as we have always done in Tower Hamlets.
“The Mayor of London has also announced that there will be highly visible policing around mosques today to provide reassurance.”
