Public meeting on Monday 11 November 2019
A statutory notice has now been issued on proposals concerning the future of Raine’s Foundation School. This follows a decision by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets in Cabinet on 30 October to approve a report recommending that a further statutory consultation is published about the proposal to close the school. This means that the proposal is now being progressed to the next stage with the four week representation period taking place from Monday 4 November until Monday 2 December 2019 at midnight.
The statutory notice along with full details of the proposals can be found on the consultation page. Comments and objections can be made until Monday 2 December 2019 at midnight by emailing email@example.com or by post.
A public meeting to discuss the proposals will also be held on Mon 11 November, 5.30pm - 7.30pm at the Professional Development Centre, 229 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 6AB.
All comments and objections will be collated and considered as part of a report that will go to the council’s Cabinet in January 2020 for a final decision.
Comments by post can be submitted to:

Over the summer, a consultation took place from 10 June to 31 July over the proposal to close the school. Prior to the start of the consultation, several meetings took place with the council and the school’s headteacher, chair of governors, the governing body, senior leadership team and staff.
Other meetings took place with parents, carers, trade unions and the local community at Oaklands Community School. A special session of the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee also discussed the matter.
Notes from the public meetings recording the points and questions raised in these discussions were published on the council’s website.
Views expressed by pupils at the public meetings have been captured in the general notes of the meetings. In addition, support was offered to pupils throughout this period.
