Proposed ward name changes

Consultation image

The consultation will run until 2 February 2021

A consultation has been launched to consider proposed name changes to three wards in the borough.

Suggestions have been put forward to change:

  • Bethnal Green ward to Bethnal Green East ward
  • St. Peter’s ward to Bethnal Green West ward
  • Canary Wharf ward to Millwall ward

The consultation is in response to views made during the council’s Polling Places and Polling District Review, which concluded in January 2020.

Changing the names of electoral wards falls outside the scope of the review and follows a separate legal process. The law requires us to consult before any changes to the names of electoral wards are considered by the council.
