Young creatives design council Christmas cards

This year's winning Christmas card designs

Colourful and creative designs are featured on Christmas cards being sent out by John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Will Tuckley, the council’s Chief Executive and James Thomas, Corporate Director of Children and Culture,  thanks to the winners of the 2020 Tower Hamlets Council’s Christmas card competition.

The Mayor, Mr Tuckley and Mr Thomas had a difficult task of selecting three winning designs from more than 70 drawings entered into the competition by children between the ages of five and 11.

Esther Noble Stein, 10, of William Davis Primary School designed the Mayor’s card which features the borough’s logo as the pot for a Christmas tree; eleven year old Claudia Febo’s  artistic drawing of Santa and his reindeers whizzing under Tower Bridge is on the chief executive’s card; and Osmani Primary School pupil Sumeet Mojumder’s  picture of Father Christmas and a snowman posing by a Christmas tree, is on the front cover of the corporate director’s card.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s cards will be sent electronically and addressing the peculiarities of 2020, some designs specially featured Covid-19 advice such as distancing and masks.

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “We were so impressed by the exceptionally high standard of imagination and talent demonstrated by all the children across the borough who sent their designs in. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition.”
