Soup making, skating, story times and other fun awaits families this half term

A range of free council funded February half-term holiday activities will be on offer across the borough’s parks and open spaces, Idea Stores, libraries and leisure centres from 15 - 23 February.

Activities ranging from arts and crafts, physical activities like skating, a Harry Potter quiz, creative writing and much more will take place across the borough.

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “We are once again offering children and young people a host of opportunities to enjoy the half term holiday. Young people and families can choose to be active and take part in a sporting event, learn about how to support our environment or get creative with arts and crafts.”

The half-term holiday starts with a walk in Victoria Park on Saturday 15 February from 1pm - 3pm. Discover why the award winning ‘Vicky Park’ is loved by millions of its visitors every year and named The Nation’s Favourite Park’as Travis Elborough, local author and cultural commentator, takes you on a stroll to discover the park’s secret stories and hidden history.

Those who prefer indoor activities can pop into the Idea Store in Bow on Sunday 16 February, 2.15pm - 3pm, to take part in Our World, Our Pledge, an art project focused on improving the environment.

Bethnal Green Gardens will host a day of ice skating, skateboarding, climbing, athletics and other fun on Wednesday 19 February 11am - 4pm.

Enjoy cycling whatever your age or experience with the free family Bikeworks sessions at Victoria Park.

Councillor Sabina Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Culture, Arts and Brexit, said: “Our half term activities will enable residents of all ages to have fun, socialise and enjoy the beauty of the borough’s award-winning facilities, including our parks and open spaces.”

Vicky Park dog date

Bring your dog as we celebrate the many different canine friends we welcome to Vicky Park each year. Let your dogs socialise and enjoy healthy dog treats as you enjoy live music and hot teas made using fresh herbs from our outdoor classroom.
