Tower Hamlets Inter Faith Forum

We are pleased to see that faith communities are beginning to reopen their buildings for worship in Tower Hamlets. It has been a long time since communities have been able to come together for worship and we are grateful for all the work that has taken place to allow this to happen safely.

The Inter Faith Forum has worked with partners from across our faith communities and Public Health England, to provide guidance about the measures that will ensure the safety of worshippers. This guidance has been shared by all the major faith denominations, who are committed to following government guidance and protecting the wider community from coronavirus.

The council has also arranged training for all faith leaders and managers in the borough in preparation for re-opening buildings and preventing the spread of infection.

Some faith buildings continue to work on how they can open safely, so while some are reopening, including the East London Mosque on Monday 13 July, some remain closed. Please continue to worship at home if your usual faith building is unable to open safely.

If you are planning to visit a faith building, please make sure you follow the instructions and guidelines provided. Safety measures have been put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our community and help protect our most vulnerable residents. This includes the track and trace system, where visitors will be encouraged to share their email address or phone number so they can be reached if they have been in contact with someone who has Covid-19.

The Inter Faith Forum will continue to support governing bodies across the faith community including those who are yet to reopen.
