The council has had to take the very difficult decision to cancel today’s Martyrs’ Day event (20 Februay) due to the yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office.
Further periods of strong wind forecast for today and tomorrow mean that we are unable to guarantee the safety of event attendees in Altab Ali Park.
We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused. For safety reasons we kindly ask that people do not attempt to visit the park to lay wreaths or commemorate the day.
