Recognising Learning Disability Week in Tower Hamlets

Learning Disability Week is taking place this year from 20 to 24 June and aims to improve the quality of life for those with learning disabilities by raising awareness about important issues and fighting stigma and discrimination.

The theme of this year’s event, organised by Mencap, is to show how people with a learning disability are reconnecting with friends and their communities.

Events will be going on in Tower Hamlets as part of the awareness week.

A carer’s passport workshop will take place from 12noon to 1pm on Wednesday 22 June at the Carers Centre. The event will look at the development of a carer’s passport and how to best embed it across health services and within the community. Please feel free to attend if you are a carer for someone; there is no need to register in advance.

On Thursday 23 June, social care charity Apasen will be holding an awareness event from 11.30am to 4pm at 30 Copenhagen Place, Carmine Wharf, London, E14 7FF. It is free to attend, but please book your place by visiting this wesbite here.
