Royal visit road closures

Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla

Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will make a historic visit to Brick Lane this Wednesday, 8 February 2023 between 11am and 12noon.

Anyone wishing to catch a glimpse of their Majesties on their visit can do so by accessing Brick Lane via a side road, south of Princelet Street.

Tight security arrangements mean that there will be some road closures, parking suspensions and local disruption starting on Tuesday.

The following road closures will be in place from 6pm on Tuesday 7 February until 5pm on Wednesday 8 February:

• Osborn Street
• Wentworth Street and Old Montague Street to the junction of Greatorex Street
• Brick Lane between Wentworth Street / Old Montague Street to Hanbury Street
• Hopetown Street, Chicksand Street, Fashion Street, Heneage Street, Fournier Street and Princelet Street

The following road closures will be in place from 8am to 5pm on Wednesday 8 February:

• Adler Street southbound from Whitechapel High Street to Coke Street
• Mulberry Street
• White Church Lane
• Manningtree Street

Parking Restrictions

In addition to the road closures there will be additional parking restrictions and parking bay suspensions on a number of roads for security purposes to maintain emergency services access. Please check street notices for parking bay suspensions. Any vehicles parked within the suspended bays will be enforced and towed. The following roads will have parking suspensions in place for the entire duration of Tuesday 7 February and Wednesday 8 February:

Waste Collections

• If you have any waste that would normally have been collected on Wednesday 8 February, please leave it out for collection on the night of Tuesday 7 February after 9:00pm.

Deliveries to businesses

• If you have any deliveries that would normally be planned on Tuesday 7 February and Wednesday 8 February, please arrange for the deliveries to be on Monday 6 February and Thursday 10 February.

Tables & Chairs, A-Boards, Shopfront Projections

• If your business is licenced to place any items by our Street Trading Team these items must not be put out on Wednesday 8 February. This is due to crowd management barrier being installed from Tuesday morning for public safety.
