Celebrating National Numeracy Day is as easy as 1-2-3 in Tower Hamlets

National numeracy day

Playing snakes and ladders in different languages and making your own jewellery are just some of the ways you can celebrate National Numeracy Day at Idea Store Learning in Tower Hamlets.

The national awareness day aims to make people more confident with numbers and maths.

Tower Hamlets Council is holding three days of activities, with freebies and information at the Town Hall in Whitechapel on 15 May from 9am to 3pm and at Idea Store in Chrisp Street on 16 May from 10am to 1pm.

On National Numeracy Day itself on 17 May, from 10am to 12 noon at the Idea Store in Whitechapel, there will be a range of activities to participate in such as the opportunity to start growing your own fruit and veg, tips on how to save money, the chance to make your own draft excluder, measure and make your own jewellery, and snakes and ladders in French and Spanish. Don’t forget to pick up your free goodie bag too.

There will also be a competition taking place for the duration of the three days where residents, staff and learners can guess the number of sweets in two jars. The winners will each receive a £20 Amazon gift voucher the draw will take place on 17 May at 11am and our Deputy Mayor will announce the winners.
