Sunday 16 December 2018
The annual celebration of 16th December, the Victory Day of Bangladesh celebration by Pencil is a significant event; this year the event aims to attract over 300 Pencilors including their friends and family members, and another 200 people from all over the UK. This year it is also aiming to make the day memorable through Pencil members continuous engagement and various art and cultural activities.
Pencil-UK Bijoy Mela, the daylong event is divided into three segments; an Art Competition for children under the age of 13 years old, Cultural Event/activities for all ages including Dress as you like for children; and Stalls selling various goods, accessories and homemade food items. The daylong event is being organised in an effort to engage Bangladeshi children living in the UK and to introduce them to the rich tradition and cultures of their own root and history of the ‘liberation war’. Pencilors & parents are requested to encourage their children to research and discuss findings with friends and family.
