Black Presence Talk

The Good Friday Procession

London’s East End has been home to people of African and Caribbean origin since at least the 16th Century.  Their presence throughout the centuries reflects Britain’s imperial past and maritime history, in addition to the country’s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.

Join Genova Messiah (Heritage Trainee) and Halima Khanom (Heritage Officer, Learning and Participation) for this interactive session exploring images, cuttings and archive collections relating to African Caribbean presence in Tower Hamlets.

Booking essential. To book a space please email localhistory@towerhamlets.gov.uk or go to Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives Facebook Page to book via Eventbrite.

This event will take place online via Zoom.  Joining instructions will be sent two days before the event.
