John Biggs Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets

My warm greetings to Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities in Tower Hamlets and around the country who are celebrating Diwali this year.

Diwali, which is also referred to as the Festival of Lights - is a time to reflect on life and the future. It spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair. Diwali is a time to reflect on the practicing of these values and celebrate the great diversity we have in the Borough.

I offer my very best wishes to those celebrating at this special time.

Happy Diwali!

To celebrate Diwali we are supporting two exciting events in Tower Hamlets.
