Financial support is available to help local football clubs via the Mayor's Cup Grant but you need to hurry. The deadline for applications is 19 January.

Local football teams can apply for grants of up to £500 thanks to money raised through the 2017 Mayor’s Cup football tournament, an annual football tournament between teams in the borough.

The grants can be used for a whole range of purposes, as long as the money goes towards promoting engagement in and access to grassroots football.

The window for applications is open for just two weeks and closes on Friday 19 January, so clubs and organisations are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs said:

“The Mayor’s Cup is a major moment for grassroots football in the Borough and a great opportunity to promote the healthy lifestyles that active football playing brings.’’

Cllr Abdul Mukit, Cabinet Member for Culture and Youth said:

"This is a great opportunity for football clubs in the area to benefit from the Mayor’s support through this grant. The football tournament helps keep people healthy, while striving for success and fostering future stars.”
