Citizenship ceremonies

Have you received your invitation from the Home Office? Congratulations!

To celebrate, we've sent you an invite confirming the date of your free group citizenship ceremony at Tower Hamlets Register Office - you should have it within ten days of your Home Office invitation. Ceremonies are held weekly, but if the date we've offered doesn't work for you, you can contact us to rearrange.

At the short ceremony, you and several other new citizens will be awarded with your official certificate of citizenship and there's more information about the ceremony in your invitation letter.

If you have questions, or need to change your date, please contact us via email with your telephone number and Home Office Reference at nationalityandcitizenship@towerhamlets.gov.uk.

Personal ceremonies

For many people, confirmation of UK citizenship is a special moment. If you'd like to mark it with family and friends, consider booking your own personal ceremony for up to 60 guests in the Register Office's Vestry Hall.

Personal ceremonies take place on weekdays and last around 15-20 minutes. While you will need to book in advance, there isn't a long waiting list and the registrar who officiates the service is happy to include speeches or other personal touches.

If you opt for a personal ceremony, you will be asked to pay the relevant fee as listed below.

Monday to Friday  £120
Saturday AM £240
Saturday PM £350
Sunday £530

If you'd like to arrange a personal ceremony, please contact us via e-mail.
