Register office fees

Please read this information about costs associated with your milestone events carefully. To help us make sure you've got the right information, tell us which service you'll be using:

Register office ceremonies

This could be a marriage, civil ceremony or naming ceremony. If you're planning a wedding, don't forget to check the other fees that will also apply.

Booking fee

If you'd like to 'hold' a certain date, but aren't ready to pay the full ceremony fee, you can pay a booking fee of £70. This is non-refundable and will not be deducted from the ceremony fee when you come to pay it.

If you're ready to confirm a date and pay the full ceremony fee, you will not need to pay the £70 booking fee.

Ceremony Fees

The Vestry
Tuesday -Thursday Friday Saturday morning Saturday afternoon Sunday Bank holidays
 £190  £220  £250  £350  £600  £600

The register office - for weddings with the happy couple and two witnesses only
 Wednesdays only  £60 non-refundable

For weddings, the ceremony fee also includes three copies of your marriage certificate.

The Vestry accommodates 60 people. However, the room has a partition, which can be removed to increase capacity to 120. This incurs an additional £100 fee.

Cancellation or amendment

We understand that, sometimes, things happen that are outside of your control. So, if you need to cancel, we will refund your ceremony fee, minus an administration charge of £55.

If you need to change your booking – for example, date or time change - you don't need to cancel and rebook. The first change/amendment will be subject to an administration fee of £25 and all further changes will incur a fee of £55. Please note that date changes and time changes to ceremonies can only be accommodated subject to availability.

 Getting married

If you're planning to get married in one of the borough's registered venues, rather than our Register Office or a place of worship, you'll need to arrange for registrars to attend. Here is an outline of the associated fees.

If you'd like the registrar to 'hold' a certain date, but aren't ready to pay the full ceremony fee, you can pay a booking fee of £55. This is non refundable and will not be deducted from the ceremony fee when you come to pay it.

If you're ready to confirm a date and pay the full ceremony fee, you will not need to pay the £55 booking fee.
