Rent relief for Tower Hamlets tenants
We appreciate that community and commercial tenants have been impacted by local and national Covid-19 restrictions.
As a result of our own financial challenges due to the pandemic, we need to balance our role as a responsible landlord against the challenge of generating income to support much needed services.
Every business is different so it makes it difficult to design a one size fits all policy.
We are therefore requesting that organisations contact our asset management team if they are having difficulties paying the rent.
Cases will be assessed individually but the following factors will guide our decision:
- We will look more sympathetically at tenants with a good payment record before Covid, as this demonstrates their probity and resilience.
- Where tenants have already been granted rent deferral for the previous lockdown, we will want to know they are managing the repayment responsibly before granting further relief.
