The cohesion programme

The Community Cohesion Pilot Programme (CCPP) is a new initiative funded through Section 106 contributions from developments in the Mile End and Aldgate East areas.

The programme aims to increase engagement and interaction between people from different backgrounds in the two areas in such a way that it increases understanding and builds positive social connections between them. This is being done through delivering 2 projects in Mile End and 3 projects in Aldgate East. The projects are developing participation in neighbourhood life, bringing people together to improve the local area and build community capacity and resilience in a sustainable way.

We are keen to involve the community in driving and delivering the CCPP. If you want to know more about the programme and want to volunteer your time supporting it then please email cohesion@towerhamlets.gov.uk.

The delivery partners

The projects are being managed and delivered by well-established community and voluntary sector groups, working with the council, local volunteers and businesses.

The four organisations that are delivering the projects in the two areas are:

  • Society Links (Aldgate East)
  • Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery park (Aldgate East and Mile End)
  • Four Corners (Aldgate East)
  • Toy House (Mile End)

The projects

Some of the projects have already started, but as they will be running for either a year or 18 months, there’s still plenty of time to check them out and get involved.
