COVID-19 February Scheme Update:

Following government guidance our February scheme is only open to children of critical workers and vulnerable children, with a reduced capacity. Our priority is to ensure that children and staff at the scheme are kept safe and we reduce risks as much as possible.

Before you book

Before booking please check the government's critical worker list to make sure you are eligible. Only book if you are unable to keep your children at home. Follow all steps on our booking system.  Failure to send evidence of critical worker status will result in your place being cancelled and the £10 cancellation charge being applied without notice.

Our web page will be kept up to date with any changes. Please only send the team queries via email to help us support as many parents and carers as possible. Please do not call.

We appreciate your patience at this difficult time.

Holiday childcare scheme volunteer placements

The Holiday Childcare Team provides placement opportunities to volunteers and students who are committed, enthusiastic and reliable. Placement opportunities include:

  • office based project work and
  • may include practical experience of working with children (depending on the placement dates).

Virtual volunteer and student placements are available.

All volunteers and students completing a placement with us will take part in a formal induction. Volunteers and students have a weekly supervision meeting with a placement supervisor to provide ongoing support.

Tasks you need to complete

All volunteers and students will need to complete these tasks before being offered a placement:

  1. Email Lance Lathino:
  2. Have an informal interview
  3. Complete online safeguarding training (including FGM and Prevent)
  4. Confirmation on placement dates/days
  5. Contact details of two professional/academic references
  6. All placements that involve direct contact with children require a DBS or oversees equivalent for international students

Previous volunteers have said

"I was enticed by the opportunity to help bring much needed joy into the lives of children during this pandemic. The holiday childcare team is a good way to spend my time and give back to the community."

Areanna, student

"Working in the background of a community helping children to learn, grow and develop their social skills though play is most definitely rewarding."

Yasmine, student
