Holiday childcare

The Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare Scheme is Ofsted registered and provides childcare for children aged 3 to 13 years old. The holiday provision takes place in Tower Hamlets schools and operates during the school holidays, (excluding the Christmas break), from an option between 8am to 6pm (for working parents) or 9am to 5pm. Parents should provide their child with a packed lunch, see our healthy packed lunch guidance.

We provide a good quality, safe, inclusive childcare service encouraging all children to engage and participate in play-based activities indoors and outdoors. Highly qualified staff plan and provide a wide range of fun activities following the children’s interests, including, sports, cooking, creative arts and crafts, street dance, zumba, games, film making and much more. They promote and encourage children to choose their own activities and make decisions for themselves.

Announcement - Tuesday 31 March 2020

Our staff have been working tirelessly at this unprecedented and difficult time with the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) to provide holiday childcare for children of key worker staff who live and work in Tower Hamlets.

Childcare will only be provided to those children of key workers as per Government advice. Alternative arrangements in Tower Hamlets are in place for those with an education, health and care plan, and vulnerable children. Please contact your school directly or visit your school website for further information.

Bookings closed: Tuesday 31 March at 13:00

Venue: St Mary and St Michael Primary School, Sutton Street, Stepney, London E1 0BD

At this busy time we urge all parents/carers to avoid phoning where possible and to e-mail holiday.childcare@towerhamlets.gov.uk so we can support as many families as possible.

Fees

Please note our current fees in the following table. Working parents resident in Tower Hamlets (TH) in receipt of working tax credits and non working parents in receipt of working tax credits will be eligible for an extra subsidised rate.

During the coronavirus pandemic we aim to support as many critical key worker staff with childcare arrangements as we can. To support this we have reduced the cost at this scheme to a £1 booking fee per day per child.
