Leadership
Young people can join the youth council which is a rolling programme. They have the opportunity to take part in debates and forums about the community and young people. They also plan and deliver their own programmes raising awareness if issues that concern young people.
The Young Mayors scheme invites the young people of Tower Hamlets to take part in and run for Young Mayor. Young people receive training and support to prepare their campaigns and lean how local democratic process work.
The Takeover Challenge is an annual event where young people can shadow senior managers in the Council for the whole day and gain valuable insight into how the council operates and also make key decisions.
The team also deliver the Leadership Programme and this year a group of young women and girls completed the ASDAN Leadership Course and delivered a community event in Limehouse Youth Hub and well over 100 young people attended. The theme of the event was mental health and well-being delivered in partnership with ‘Don’t suffer in Silence’.
Group work
Training can be delivered across the borough on numerous health prevention topics such as healthy eating; SRE and drugs and alcohol. We also contribute to the No Place for Hate campaign. The Youth Council members will be trained to become No Place for Hate Crime Champions and will be coming to your Youth Hub to deliver workshops in January 2018.
