Statement of Community Involvement
Consultation on Draft Statement of Community Involvement Refresh
The council’s Statement of Community Involvement sets out how the community can get involved in the preparation of local planning policy documents and decisions on planning applications.
The current Statement of Community Involvement (July 2012) was last updated in 2012 and four years on it requires an update. The council is taking a two phased approach to updating the document. This is Phase 1 of the update and it brings the SCI up to date with regards to 3 key areas which are outlined below and now contained within a document entitled ‘Statement of community Involvement Refresh’.
Changes in national and regional policy and legislation
(a) Neighbourhood Plans
(b) Duty to Co-operate and General Consultees
(c) Community Infrastructure Levy
(d) General Permitted Development Order
(e) Assets of Community Value
(a) Updated details of publications
(b) Inclusion of social media as a public engagement tool
(a) The removal of outdated terminology and replacement with new terminology
(b) Updated contact details
During Phase 2 the council will look more closely at engagement around the Development Management process. The update for Phase 2 is anticipated to take place once the Local Plan has been adopted in 2018.
The public consultation will run from Friday 11 November 2016 until Monday 2 January 2017.
